In Memory of Grandma

After a 10 year battle with Alzheimers, my Grandma died on Monday January 19th. Before the Alzheimers my Grandma was one of the most talented, driven, caring and compassionate person I have known. I realized this week as we reminisced that my Grandma did so much more than I even realized. Her and my Grandpa spent most of their retirement helping and serving others. She has set a high bar for us all to follow.
However over the past 10 years, her driveness and abilities were taken over by this horrible disease...To the point that in the past few years she could not even recognize anyone, or recall all the things she had accomplished...
I cannot imagine how hard this must have been for my Grandma in the earlier stages of the disease when more and more of her memory was being taken away, but yet she was still functioning enough to realize what was happening to her...How frightening that must be!! Yet my Grandma never stopped Trusting God. In the middle of her Bible we found a sheet of paper with "Psalm 4" written on it in her hand writing (weak and shaking writing--obviously written sometime during her battle) I will never read Psalm 4 the same again...I'm sure that especially the first and last verse were my Grandma's prayer.
Ps 4:1--"Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer."
Ps 4:8--"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
Today my Grandma dwells in safety with Christ! She has found relief, and has a new mind...
